  • Ohio University has ensured that Muslim students receive food accommodations during Ramadan—which lasts from Feb 28 to Mar 29—by providing early meals before sunrise and offering students the option to request freshly prepared Halal meals from dining halls.  The Post
  • Faculty members at Ohio University voted to unionize Monday after a 453 to 189 vote was counted at the State Employment Relations Board office in Columbus. The new union is expected to give faculty a stronger voice in salary and benefit negotiations — a move aimed at boosting transparency with administration.  WOUB Public Media
  • Folklorist Nicole Musgrave interviewed child care workers in Central Appalachia including Athens to record their COVID-19 shutdown experiences and compile lessons for a Library of Congress archive. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Athens County, working with Rural Action and a Massachusetts-based engineering firm, has applied for grant funding from the Climate Smart Communities Initiative to develop a model for long-term climate change adaptation planning — the project will guide the region's response to rising climate risks in the coming years.  The Athens Messenger

  • The Bulletin Board lists public meetings from March 24 to March 31 for many local boards such as community action and city and county councils.
