GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Athens City Council met on March 24 to discuss a retroactive permit request from the owner of a rental property at 37 and 37½ Woodward Avenue for a brick patio and curb added last summer without proper approval—council members said the work showed a blatant disregard for city rules. Mike DeWine said an investigation is needed after defense leaders held a war chat that mistakenly included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg—White House officials said the chat, which discussed plans to attack Houthi targets in Yemen and shared details like targets, dates and times, had no classified information. Mike DeWine signed Senate Bill 1 on March 28th that will change Ohio higher education by banning most mandatory diversity programs and faculty strikes+ shortening trustee terms and adding a civics course focused on U.S. history and the free market.
