- ➤ Mark Cohen found a prehistoric tusk in early March along a tributary of Federal Creek on his property in Athens County. Experts from Ohio University, University of Cincinnati and University of Michigan said the fragile tusk likely came from a mastodon that lived between 12,000 and 14,000 years ago and disintegrated shortly after it was removed from the water.
