  • From Monday to Saturday, civic and community meetings are scheduled in Athens and nearby towns. Monday features coffee and play at local centers (Athens Community Center, The Nest) while Tuesday offers recovery support and a group run/walk, with family playgroups, book clubs, and a pancake breakfast planned through Saturday.  Athens County Independent

CULTURE NEWS

  • Athens hosts a busy week with a research expo at Walter Fieldhouse Tuesday morning + open mics at Big Run Kava Bar and game nights at Union Bar; Mom’s Weekend events feature ziplining Friday and an international street fair Saturday with many free and ticketed activities through Sunday.  The Post
  • Today, The Athena Cinema screens the award-winning documentary 'No Sleep Til Kyiv' at 7 p.m. with a panel discussion, and more film premieres and music releases are scheduled in Athens through Apr. 13.  The Post

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Nate Strum credits OHIO’s MPA program — he earned his degree in 2020 — for teaching practical public service skills that now help him bridge the gap between government and private work at HDR as director of economic development.  Ohio University

  • Theressa Kane, CEO at Behavioral Health Choices (with nearly 39 years’ experience in behavioral health), has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Voinovich School at Ohio University. She will use her local expertise to help shape public service programs.  Ohio University

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Ohio Department of Transportation is managing local projects: U.S. 33 is expanding to four lanes with closures until 2028, Connett Road closes April 13 until June 8, and SR 329 resurfacing starts April 14; SR 56 realignment began April 6 while CR 94 and Nelsonville Public Square remain closed.  Athens County Independent
