CULTURE NEWS

  • The Lost Flamingo Theatre Company presents the musical 'Urinetown' to bring humor and social commentary to audiences at the Arts West building (132 W. State St.) with shows on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $5 cash at the door.  The Post

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Retired attorney and former Bobcat player Cary Cooper continues his service on the Voinovich School Advisory Board and created Mary Ann’s Fund for Voinovich Scholars (supporting environmental projects in Southeast Ohio) as he wraps up his decade-long role on OHIO’s Board of Trustees in June.  Ohio University
  • Ohio University approved a resolution during its April board meeting to rename 35 Park Place to The Burtch House in honor of longtime supporters Bruce (BGS '72) and Janie Burtch.  Ohio University
  • Suzanne Piper, a senior at Ohio University, reflects on her four transformative years in a farewell column as she prepares to begin a two-year master’s program in Denmark and Germany after graduation, marking a new chapter in her academic journey.  The Post

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Exotic World Vape and Beauty, a local beauty supply store uptown, asked for a variance to sell vaping products but was denied Friday, April 17 because it is 450 feet from a church and 304 feet from a tobacco retailer (violating the 500-foot rule).  WOUB Public Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ohio’s eight-game road trip ends with a series against Central Michigan at Keilitz Field at Theunissen Stadium. The Bobcats, coming off a win against Miami, play today at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m. and hope to improve their performance.  The Post
  • Ohio earned a 4-2 non-conference win over Marshall with ace pitcher Skipp Miller delivering a near no-hitter and teammate Izzie Wilson driving a key three-run homer. The Bobcats will now head to Kent for a road series against Kent State.  The Post
  • Ohio's Bobcats (7-29) lost 11-8 to the Norse in a road game where Will Henson hit a grand slam that kept the contest close. The team will travel to Mount Pleasant, Michigan, on Friday at 3 p.m. for a three-game series against Central Michigan.  The Post
