Good morning, Athens. Here's your local news at a glance for Tuesday, the 29th of April.

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students in Athens are urged to leave usable furniture, clothing and food at the curb during move-out instead of placing them with the trash, as nightly collection will take unwanted items away; this method helps ensure that worthy items reach community members in need.  Athens County Independent
  • Three current Scripps College students in Athens received scholarships from alumni who once worked at WOUB — Will Miller and Kaylee Mackey got the Larry and JoAnn Katz Family Scholarship and Cali Christian got the Leonard E. Auerbach Regional Representatives Scholarship — to help cover next year’s costs and summer internships.  WOUB Public Media

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Bulletin Board provides a schedule of public meetings from April 28 to May 5 — including sessions for Athens City Council committees, the County Board of Commissioners, and other local boards — which will be held in-person unless noted for livestream or Zoom. Meeting notices must be submitted by noon on Fridays to be included in Monday’s Bulletin Board.  Athens County Independent
