EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ohio University faculty received multiple awards + grants for research and innovative programs this spring. Honors including a prestigious CAREER Award and teaching recognitions were announced across campus. Ohio University
- ➤ Candidate Vivek Ramaswamy proposed consolidating some public universities to cut costs, though local experts (including an OU press release from Athens) warned that closedowns could hurt community businesses and reduce student access. The plan was shared during a campaign speech amid statewide enrollment concerns. The Post
- ➤ Ohio University's Walter Fieldhouse hosted the Student Expo on April 7—showing 462 projects and 670 presentations. Voinovich students earned awards for solving community issues like food access and environmental restoration in Athens. Ohio University
- ➤ Spencer Johnson from Ohio University's MPA program (Voinovich School) was selected recently for the Jeff A. Finkle internship with the National League of Cities. - ➤ The Nelsonville Aquatic Center is closed because a recent inspection found serious structural flaws, leaving locals to seek alternatives for a cool swim.
