- ➤ A Celebration of Life for Bruce Mitchell is scheduled for Saturday, May 24 at 3pm at the Ridges Auditorium in Athens, and community members are asked to honor his memory by wearing bright clothing (donations in lieu of flowers are accepted). Athens County Independent

- ➤ Jill Kleck Woo began her journey on a quiet farm in Northwest Ohio and earned a degree in Radio and Television from Ohio University in 1978, honing her TV production skills at WOUB before moving to Chicago and later Hollywood. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On May 2, the Lambda of Ohio University Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa honored nearly 50 students at Grover Center for meeting strict academic requirements—families and university officials attended the ceremony. Ohio University
- ➤ Ohio University announced on April 29 that it would close its Division of Diversity and Inclusion, which houses the Pride Center—this move may impact student mental health as it comes two days before the start of Mental Health Awareness Month. The Athens Messenger

- ➤ The Bulletin Board lists in-person public meetings scheduled from May 12 through May 19 in Athens and nearby communities—including sessions from city councils, boards of education, and community action groups.
