EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Ohio University offers the no-cost TRIO program to help students succeed in college with advising, mentorship, and career planning at the Athens campus, and it supports those who are Pell-eligible, first-generation, or have physical disabilities (faculty are encouraged to refer students to this initiative). - ➤ Grace Cherryhomes, a spring graduate from University College, built her custom degree blending design+marketing+media through the BSS program after overcoming early setbacks. She plans to pursue a freelance career and open her own branding agency. Ohio University
- ➤ Ohio University instructors Tracy Watson and Corey Boby have introduced the Boby/Watson Rising Star in Mathematics Teaching Award for a first-year graduate assistant in the Mathematics Department. John Iluno, who teaches College Algebra and PreCalculus, is the first recipient and a rising star in math education. Ohio University
- ➤ Ohio University Center for Community Impact invites faculty, staff, and community partners to submit proposals for Engage OHIO, a symposium on community and place-based engagement scheduled for Friday, Nov. 6 in Athens. - ➤ Ohio University's Voinovich Academy, now in its 10th year, supports public service leaders with a 12-month Certified Public Manager Program and interactive workshops; its Athens events include a six-workshop series on authentic leadership and Strategic Doing practitioner training set for later this spring. - ➤ The Ohio Music Industry Summit drew over 70 music professionals, students, and alumni to Ohio University from Apr. 14 to 16. Attendees joined breakout sessions and keynote talks — sharing hands-on learning and career insights in the music field. Ohio University

- ➤ Joe Brehm, an Ohio graduate who studied at Voinovich School, is now Co-CEO of Rural Action working on regional conservation and environmental education.
