- ➤ Community members in Dover Township have joined with area veterans to restore Millfield Community Park at 111 Willis Drive using donations and volunteer work. A sock hop will be held today at 12 Pine St., The Plains from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.—all proceeds will help fund further park improvements for local children. Athens County Independent

- ➤ Nancy Cartwright, who voices Bart Simpson on The Simpsons, said she gained the confidence for her career when she volunteered on WOUB's radio comedy program as a student at Ohio University—she returned to campus on April 15 to perform with Animaniacs: In Concert and reflect on her early days. - ➤ Voice actor Nancy Cartwright said her experience volunteering on WOUB (the comedy program Fox Paw) at Ohio University built her confidence for voicing Bart Simpson as her show was picked up for four more seasons.
