- ➤ The Southeast Ohio Fibershed will host its Spring 2026 Meetup Saturday, May 30 at the Hocking Hills Garment Center (17645 Bank St., Buchtel) to showcase sustainable textile arts through demonstrations, fiber education and local speakers including Betsy Franjola and Lisa Heinz. - ➤ The Ohio University Dance Team marked its 35th anniversary at the DTU College Classic National Championships with a first-ever Hip Hop finals appearance and strong Pom results, and more than 50 dancers auditioned as the team prepares for next season’s home basketball performances. - ➤ Alexander High School hosted a scholarship ceremony on May 14, awarding 69 scholarships totaling $71,875 to seniors (future students) planning to attend two-year, four-year or trade schools at the school’s cafetorium. Athens County Independent
