- ➤ The Athens County Humane Society will host its 31st annual Garden Tour fundraiser on Sunday, June 8 where visitors will pick up a brochure at the Convention and Visitors Bureau at 667 E State Street and use it to explore various private gardens. - ➤ Authorities announced that Athens will host its first Ohio recreation economy conference on July 22 during a two-day event — featuring guest speakers and off-campus excursions led by Ohio University — that will explore outdoor recreation trends in Appalachian Ohio. The Athens Messenger

- ➤ Ohio University will begin a transition for the Office of Global Affairs as Provost Dr. Donald Leo will convene a task force in the fall to review its international portfolio and conduct a needs assessment.
