- ➤ Athens City Council voted 5—0 Monday to rezone 5 acres on Hooper Street for a potential affordable housing project with up to 80 units, allowing Hill Tide Partners to apply for tax credits in July amid local opposition. The council also discussed increasing funding for a public safety training facility by nearly $2.2 million, revising plans for a shared use path, and finalizing payments for the fire headquarters.
