- ➤ Ohio University's Ceramics Program fired nine atmospheric kilns in Athens as part of The Atmospheric Conference, marking a historic event for local art makers. - ➤ Copperhead snakes are the only venomous snake in Athens County and have copper-colored heads and brown hourglass patterns that help them blend in on rocky hillsides. - ➤ Athens County is facing a growing risk from tick bites that spread illnesses like Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever and red meat allergies, as ticks increase each summer.
