- ➤ Ohio University’s MSN nurse practitioner program was ranked one of the top three in Ohio by allnurses.com + the program offers flexible online, hybrid, and on-campus options to help working nurses advance in roles like primary care and mental health. Ohio University
- ➤ Student journalists at The Post received a $7,500 grant from the Solutions Journalism Network to expand their coverage beyond the Athens campus and into southeast Ohio communities. They will use the funding to produce monthly long form stories on issues such as the opioid crisis+ local partnerships that deliver free print newspapers to rural areas. Ohio University

- ➤ WOUB Public Media identified nearly $1 million in budget cuts and some layoffs for the current fiscal year after losing federal funding; the station will maintain NPR & PBS programming as contracted while its general manager meets with university leadership to plan further cost-saving measures for the next fiscal year. - ➤ Government and community groups have released updates today that include audit reports, new ordinances, and traffic projects along Athens roads such as the SR 144 culvert replacement scheduled to finish by August 29th—these projects will lead to detours and affect commute patterns. - ➤ Athens Ohio Roller Derby is a women-led nonprofit that holds a 10-week skating clinic each fall and competes in full-contact bouts with clear safety rules. - ➤ The Ohio Bobcats volleyball team lost key players and their longtime coach retired in the offseason—interim head coach Kenzie Brinkman now leads the team as they prepare to begin the season at a home-opening invitational in Southeast Ohio. The team, still reeling from missing the MAC Tournament last season, will face a difficult schedule in conference play as they aim to end a ten-season drought from the NCAA Tournament.
