The 27th annual pawpaw festival was held in Albany on September 13 with Athens residents and visitors sampling the rare American pawpaw fruit and enjoying live entertainment.
Local vendors and organizers supported research on new pawpaw varieties — an effort that helps small farmers diversify their crops.

Ohio's football team ended a tough nonconference schedule with a 37-9 loss at Ohio Stadium to No. 1 Ohio State, as the defense made key goal-line stops and narrowed the gap to 13-9 in the third quarter.
Coach Brian Smith said the performance builds confidence—helping them prepare for their upcoming game against FCS opponent Gardner-Webb.
