CULTURE NEWS

  • Neil Sater, a Cleveland-based author, discussed his new novel Atrocity: The Haunting of Moravian Village with WOUB’s Emily Votaw, explaining how he blended supernatural fiction with the real tragedy of the Gnadenhutten Massacre. He said that working with Native American tribe representatives and drawing on ideas from rural Ohio strengthened his storytelling approach—reflecting his commitment to historical accuracy.  WOUB Public Media

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Students helped launch a sustainable Fiber and Dye Garden at OHIO’s Land Lab along the path to Radar Hill to grow flax, hemp, and indigo for papermaking and research. Professors Melissa Haviland and Matthew Presutti began the interdisciplinary project in early September with support from Environmental and Plant Biology Chair Jared DeForest (a soil biogeochemist) to expand hands-on learning and promote local collaborations.  Ohio University
  • Ohio University will launch the School of International Studies and Languages with events on Thursday and Friday. The new school merges four departments to offer 14 languages and plans cultural events like a Halal cooking competition—giving students new ways to learn about other cultures.  The Post
