- ➤ At Tuesday's 25th anniversary event at the Athens Community Center, a new sculpture pocket park was unveiled — featuring Athena the Owl, crafted by Athens High School ceramics teacher Ellen Gagliano with help from her students. Local officials and residents celebrated the artwork — modeled after Quinny the Barn Owl with her falconer caretaker Sean O’Hara in attendance. Athens County Independent

- ➤ At Scripps College of Communication a new LED wall shooting studio in the Radio-Television Communications Building offers students practical digital media training. Media arts students in the special topics class have already worked on projects with OU Athletics and the marketing team—helping them build essential skills for future film production. The Post
- ➤ Ohio University will host a Philosophy Forum lecture by respected author and philosophy professor Mark LeBar on Oct. 23 at 4 p.m. in Bentley Hall Room 129—free and open to all students, faculty, staff and community members. Ohio University
- ➤ Ohio University removed professor Thomas Hayes from his in-person course after he was detained in Israel on a flotilla aiding Gaza; Hayes said he provided online lectures without prior approval and believes the decision was meant to limit his contact with students.
