  • Renovation efforts at 135 Columbus Road are paused after construction bids exceeded available grant funds, and Hocking Athens Perry County Community Action along with Project Co-Create are reviewing design alternatives. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Scripps College of Communication recognized 26 students, faculty, and staff on Dec. 5 for outstanding contributions in the Learn and Engage pillars (key elements of Ohio University's Dynamic Strategy). Dean Scott Titsworth presented the awards at a ceremony celebrating the honorees' impact on the college.  Ohio University
  • Gov. DeWine released audit results on Thursday, Dec. 18 showing Ohio University is among 10 colleges not aligned with the Science of Reading standards; all institutions must fully comply by next year or risk losing program approval (per audit metrics).  WOUB Public Media

SPORTS NEWS

  • Ohio University fired head football coach Brian Smith on Dec. 18 for alleged misconduct involving extramarital affairs (including an undergraduate) and alcohol use on campus. His attorney disputed the claims, noting that Smith ended the relationship in early November.  WOUB Public Media
