About this event
The School of Interdisciplinary Arts invites you to celebrate the release of Tejiendo lo Invisible , an original music project by Colombian artist and Ohio University Interdisciplinary Arts PhD student Johanna Amaya.
Exploring migration, cultural identity, and the invisible histories that shape our lives, the project draws on Amaya’s Colombian heritage and research in decolonial arts. Developed over six years and supported by the College of Fine Arts Billman Award, the project brings together music, dance, video installation, and collaborative artistic practices.
Going beyond a traditional album release, the music will also take a unique physical form: a functional, whale-inspired leather piece designed by Colombian artists and featuring a QR code to access the album.
Join Amaya and her collaborators for an evening of interdisciplinary performance and conversation exploring how artistic collaboration connects cultures, communities, and experiences across borders. The performance will be followed by a discussion about the creative process and its connection to Amaya’s dissertation research on music and decoloniality in South America.
Come experience an evening where music, movement, visual art, and conversation come together to explore the connections that transcend borders!
